Sophie Ellis Bextor Resources
Sophie Ellis Bextor (b. 10th April 1979 in London, England, U.K) is a British pop singer and daughter of Janet Ellis, one time Blue Peter presenter. Her music is a mixture of mainstream pop, indie, and 80s electronic influences.
After starting out with indie band theaudience, she released her first single without the band in 2000. Entitled
Groovejet (If This Ain't Love), the single (a collaboration with Italian DJ Spiller) entered the charts at #1, just beating Spice Girl
Victoria Beckham and therefore ensuring a media frenzy. Her debut album,
Read My Lips appeared a year later and spawned four top 20 hit singles (including 3 top threes). Her second album was not as commercially successful, reaching number 19 in the official charts, yet it still contained two further top 10 singles. Since then, Sophie has taken time out from her musical career to take care of her first-born baby, Sonny with boyfriend Richard Jones.
