Pete Droge is an American adult alternative/folk rock musician.
His debut album Necktie Second, released by American records in 1994, featured the tongue-in-cheek "If You Don't Love Me (I'll Kill Myself)", (which also appeared on the Soundtrack to the movie Dumb and Dumber),"Sunspot Stopwatch" and "So I am Over You."
Droge's next album, Find A Door was released 2 years later in the summer of 1996 under the name of Pete Droge and The Sinners - The Sinners include Dave Hull (bass), Rob Brill (drums), Peter Stroud (guitar/vocals) and Elaine Summers (guitar/vocals). This album met with critical success but received little airplay. Notable songs include "You Should Be Running", "Dear Diane' and "Mr. Jade."
Droge subsequently released two more solo records Spacey & Shakin'
and Skywatching, that latter which was released on his own label, Puzzle Tree Records, through United Musicians.
United Musicians was founded on the principle that every artist should be able to retain copyright ownership of the work he or she has created and that this ownership is the basis for artistic strength and true independence. United Musicians Artists have their own labels under the United Musicians banner and retain all rights of ownership to their work. By uniting and sharing resources, United Musicians artists seek to build a stronger organizational base from which to build and flourish in their independence.
Artists Aimee Mann, Michael Penn and their manager Michael Hausman formed United Musicians during the independent release of Aimee's album 'Bachelor No. 2.' Together, they saw the obstacles that faced a single artist label in a world of multinationals. They imagined a group of artists joining together to provide a level playing field, create a recognizable brand and ethos that would attract like-minded artists and music lovers while allowing the artists to retain control of their work.
In 1996 Droge contributed the title song to the movie "Beautiful Girls." Other credits include contributions to albums by Kim Richey
and Stone Gossard.
In 2000, Droge appeared as a "Hyatt Singer" in the movie "Almost Famous" where he and Elaine Summers performed Small Time Blues.
His latest project is the three-part harmony Adult Alternative super group, The Thorns, which features other notable artists Matthew Sweet and Shawn Mullins.
