Lynn Anderson Resources

Lynn Anderson (born September 26, 1947 in Grand Forks, North Dakota) is an American country musician.

She grew up in Sacramento, California with her mother, a professional songwriter who wrote "The Fugitive" and "(All My Friends Are Gonna Be) Strangers", both Merle Haggard hits, among others. She began her solo career in 1967 with "In Person", followed by a hit with her mother's "If I Kiss You (Will You Go Away)". A few more hits followed, as well as a regular appearance on The Lawrence Welk Show, then signed to Columbia and released her best-known song, "Rose Garden". The song won a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal and was a hit in 15 countries. More hits followed, ending with 1984's "You're Welcome to Tonight". She began recording again in 1992. Her next album, "The Blugrass Sessions", didn't appear until 2004.

That same year Anderson was arrested in Denton, Texas, for drunken driving.
