North Americaqueer radical house needs new housemate (oakland lake merritt / grand) $575
I (Stacie) work with Critical Resistance and the Catalyst Project and I will prioritize folks engaged in radical political work. Reading/Writing/Democracy Now/Shabbat/cooking/gardening/biking buddies are wonderful added bonuses.
My lovely roommates also ask that you be queer/trans(-friendly), like direct and gentle communication, and want to hang out with us sometimes.
The house and your room are pretty large, We have a small garden, and are really looking forward to planting tomatoes. Every room gets a ton of natural light, we have a kitchen, an amazing breakfast nook with a table that once belonged to Jerry Garcia (no joke), a large living room with a working fire place, two full bathrooms, and a washer and dryer. We are 420 friendly but are not very comfortable with hard drugs.
we have people over for dinner and sleepovers pretty often, but aren't supposed to have parties and live in close quarters with our neighbors. we're all poly, but don't bring home random folks. there's also no smoking or pets in the house, and street parking that's pretty difficult to find.
the neighborhood is quiet, multiracial, and fairly middle class. having a bike here is very very helpful. with a bike, there's really easy access to north oakland/berkeley, piedmont, grand ave, downtown, and anywhere by the lake, but i also bike to east oakland at least 4 days a week and it's not a bad ride. 10 minute bike ride from both 19th street and macarthur BART, and right on the 57 line.
We share chores, a grub box from people's grocery, internet, PG & E, and water.
