Connie Booth (1944-) is an American writer and actress best known for her appearances on British television, especially her work with her ex-husband,
John Cleese.
Booth was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, and made her first appearance on British television in 1968. She appeared regularly in the British television series Monty Python's Flying Circus
. She also appeared in Monty Python and the Holy Grail as the woman accused of being a witch. She cowrote and co-starred (as the maid, Polly) in the series Fawlty Towers with her then husband,
John Cleese.
Booth and Cleese were married from February 20 1968 to 1978 when their marriage ended in divorce. They had one child, Cynthia Cleese (born 1971), from their decade-long marriage.
Connie Booth subsequently appeared on British television when an American accent was required, in roles such as Mrs Errol in a BBC adaptation of Little Lord Fauntleroy and Miss March in a dramatisation of Edith Wharton's The Buccaneers.
