Neve Adrianne Campbell (born October 3, 1973) is a Canadian film and television actress. She was born in Guelph, Ontario; her father Gerry is from Glasgow, Scotland and her mother Marnie is from Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Campbell began her public life as a dancer - she trained at the National Ballet School of Canada and featured in performances of The Nutcracker
and Sleeping Beauty
. Following several injuries, Campbell moved from dancing into acting at the age of 15, performing The Phantom of the Opera at the Pantages Theatre in Toronto. Her first starring role was on the short-lived Canadian television series Catwalk.
Campbell rose to wider fame as lead character Julia Salinger in the teen drama series Party of Five
, starring in the series from 1994 to 2000. She went on to star in movies such as The Craft
, Scream
(and its 2 sequels), Wild Things
and Three to Tango
. Following the end of the Scream series, Campbell's career became more low-key, appearing in movies such as Too Smooth and Investigating Sex which did not receive wide releases. She received wide plaudits from critics however for her role in Panic alongside
William H. Macy and
Donald Sutherland.
Early in 2004, Campbell starred in The Company, a film about Chicago's Joffrey Ballet directed by Robert Altman. Campbell also co-wrote and produced the movie. Despite pre-release publicity suggesting otherwise, Campbell does not break her tradition of having a no-nudity clause in her contract for the film. She did do so for When Will I Be Loved, released later in 2004.
Campbell married Jeff Colt in 1995; they divorced in 1997.
Campbell appears in campaign literature and videos for Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada and the Tourette Syndrome Association (a similar American organisation). Her brother suffers from the Syndrome.

ScienceWill BBC2's new thriller charm us into taking notice of climate change?
The makers of Burn Up knew from the outset that their drama would be a tough sell. The two-part BBC2 thriller by Simon Beaufoy, the writer of The Full Monty, focuses on an oil-industry conspiracy to cover up the full extent of global warming, led by a charismatic and duplicitous American lobbyist called Mack (played by Bradley Whitford, Josh in The West Wing). Ranged against Mack are Tom (Rupert Penry-Jones from Spooks), an oil company chief who belatedly sees the light, and Holly (Neve Campbell), a fellow executive who's secretly collaborating with the environmental campaigners.
